Regional Field Trip Scholarships

We are pleased to partner with generous funders to provide scholarships for transportation and lunches for economically-challenged classrooms to attend field trips at the Bullock Museum.

Museum experiences do more for children than reinforce curriculum: they inspire curiosity and ignite a lifelong passion for learning. Field trip activities at the Bullock Museum may include gallery and exhibit visits, educational films, and special programs like American Indian Heritage Day and STEAM labs.

While the Bullock provides admission free-of-charge to students on classroom field trips, transportation costs have persisted as a barrier to some students who benefit from this horizon-expanding experience. Many students also participate in free lunch programs offered by their school cafeterias, making a day-long field trip away from this benefit unfeasible.

Our scholarships cover the cost of transportation and lunches and are promoted directly to the local school districts and on the Bullock’s field trip sign-up webpage.  Title 1 status and location of the school are used as the qualifying criteria. To expand the number of students enjoying a Bullock field trip, priority is given to classrooms making a first visit to the Bullock.

Scholarships are currently available to Title 1 classrooms in the counties listed below. Donors can contribute to an existing fund or call Jacqui Schraad at 512-320-8204 or e-mail her about establishing a new fund.
